Kintsugi workshop run on request!
The philosophy of Kintsugi is about finding beauty in imperfection and continuity. The very place you once thought made an object ugly or unusable becomes the beginning of a new story. It is where the gold shines through, revealing a story of resilience.
Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold — a craft that honors cracks and imperfections as part of an object’s story. Instead of hiding traces of damage, Kintsugi transforms them into something even more beautiful, celebrating resilience and renewal.
In a one-day workshop, we will practice Modern Kintsugi (簡易金継ぎ / 간이킨츠기) — a contemporary, beginner-friendly approach that preserves the spirit of traditional Hon Kintsugi while using safe, modern materials instead of natural urushi lacquer.
Together, we’ll go step-by-step through the process of restoring a broken ceramic piece. You will learn how to reassemble your piece and apply gold finish to highlight its unique lines of repair.
By the end of the session, you will bring home your repaired piece — now a one-of-a-kind work carrying a story of transformation.
