Marketplace transparency

How ranking works

Sorisomun uses different ranking signals depending on whether you are browsing recommendations or actively searching for an artwork. This page explains the main parameters and their relative importance.

Artwork recommendations

For signed-out visitors, recent marketplace popularity has the greatest relative importance. Popularity is based on a rolling recent window and uses likes or favourites, unique views and paid-order activity. For signed-in users, Sorisomun blends that popularity with personal signals such as followed Sellers and category preferences. Followed-Seller affinity is the strongest individual personal signal; category preference, listing recency, likes and active Spotlight also contribute. As meaningful personal signals grow, personalisation receives more relative weight.

Diversity

Sorisomun limits how many works from the same Seller and how many Spotlight works can dominate a recommendation page. Those limits can be relaxed progressively when there are too few eligible works to fill a useful page.

Search results

When you enter a search query, textual and category relevance to that query comes first. Recommendation order is used only as a secondary ordering signal between results with similar relevance. If you choose an explicit sort such as price or upload date, that selected sort controls the result order.

Paid Spotlight promotion

A Seller can pay for Spotlight specifically to improve the ranking signal of an artwork or Somun post while the promotion is active. Spotlight is therefore paid ranking influence. It does not guarantee first position: relevance, followed-Seller affinity, preferences, popularity, recency, engagement and diversity rules can still change the final order. Sorisomun discloses this paid influence next to search results where Spotlight can affect the ranking.

Somun posts

Somun recommendations use followed-Seller affinity, active Spotlight, recent likes and comments, and recency. Active Spotlight is a strong paid ranking signal, but the other engagement and recency signals continue to apply.
